eNewsletters are an effective way to legitimately collect information about your visitors and to encourage them to visit your site again in the future.
OpenConcept has used an Open Source application called phpList for a number of years and has been very happy with the development of this software and the support of this community. Several of our current clients are presently using phpList and have incorporated it into their outreach.
Our Drupal clients are largely using the SimpleNews module that is built into the CMS or the CiviMail component which is built into CiviCRM. Simple news is very useful and easy to use, but doesn't have the features that phpList has developed over the years. CiviMail is very powerful, especially since it is built right into a Client Relationship Management (CRM) database but still nowhere as user friendly as phpList. Both allow you to access your site and manage your users with the same login as you would manage content for your website.
